The Racine Mission Cluster’s annual meeting will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 12 at Atonement-Our Savior’s. We’ll get copies of the cluster financials and short reports from the two ministries we support: the community meal and Pan de Cielo. We’ll elect some women to go to the ELCA National Assembly in 2016, to serve on the Synod Council, and to be on the synod nominating committee. (We do have one candidate for Synod Council.)
We’re looking for women who want to be involved in the ELCA.
Each year Racine Mission Cluster is asked to come up people who might be interested in serving in the Greater Milwaukee Synod of the ELCA in various capacities. This year the Racine Mission Cluster is looking for some women who might be interested in serving in one of the following roles:
- A lay female candidate to go to the 2016 Churchwide Assembly with the Greater Milwaukee Synod delegation. The Assembly will take place in August of 2016 in New Orleans.
- A lay female candidate for the Greater Milwaukee Synod nominating committee to serve from the end of the 2015 Synod Assembly through the end of the 2018 Synod Assembly. (Your work would involve helping to come up with the names of other candidates for various positions. Most of your work would be done in February through May.)
- A lay female candidate to assume the seat vacated on the Synod Council position formerly held by another woman in our cluster. The council meets every other month. Meetings are on Thursday evenings, beginning with dinner at the host site at 5:30, followed by business beginning at 6:15. They tend to run until something like 8:30 or 9:00, with rare instances of being longer or shorter. Upcoming dates are as follows: March 19, 2015 – Lord of Life, Kenosha; May 7, 2015; July 16, 2015 – Bishop Jeff’s home; September 24, 2015 – The Lutheran Center, Chicago. That term ends in August of 2017. (There is one person interested in this position at this point.)
If you are interested in any of these positions, or have any questions about any of them, please contact Dana O’Brien at 414-916-3241.
