Wednesday Evening ActivitiesThe five congregations of FaithWorks Racine ELCA are trying something new with midweek worship services during Lent. Members of our congregations are invited to come to one worship service at each of the five Wednesdays from February 20 to March 20.

St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 1015 Four Mile Road, will host the February 20 worship service. Update: Sammy Rangel describes his pathway out of abuse and violence to forgiveness and a life of service to others.

Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 2417 Drexel Avenue, will host the February 27 service. Musicians from Redeemer and Atonement will lead Marty Haugen’s “Holden Evening Prayer Service,” and Pastor Elias Nasari will share his story as a pastor/missionary from Tanzania called to serve in the U.S.

The Ascension-Waukesha Mime group will present their version of the Passion story at Atonement Lutheran Church, 2915 Wright Avenue, on March 6. For eighteen years, the Ascension Lutheran Church Youth of Waukesha have shared the passion story of Christ. After six weeks of rehearsal, they share it with a different church each Wednesday and Sunday during Lent. The entire cast is made up youth in grades 9 through 12.

Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 2219 Washington Avenue, will host the March 13 service. Milwaukee native Arno Michaels III, former white supremacist and author of My Life After Hate, will share his compelling story.

Emmaus Lutheran Church, 1925 Summit Avenue, will present The Prayer Walk of the Passion on March 20. Emmaus members will dress in costume and act out the emotional days of Holy Week: Jesus’ triumphant entrance into Jerusalem, foot washing, the Last Supper, the Garden of Gethsemane, the trial, the crucifixion and the tomb. The church will be transformed into the various stations.

Services are all at 7:00 p.m. Dinner is served at 6:00 with the hosting congregation sharing their story of mission and ministry during the dinner hour.

Some of our congregations are organizing car pools to help their members get to those services that are across town; please contact your church office for details.
