The Care Abounds in Community program of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans has also announced that the FaithWorks Fall Festival has been approved to receive matching funds for the two-day event. A host of volunteers, including a number of Thrivent members from the five sponsoring congregations, will be involved in the sale of tickets, planning, set-up, and activities throughout the weekend of September 15 and 16.
Thrivent will match festival proceeds at a one-for-three level, up to a maximum of $1,600. Earnings will then be divided among the ELCA Latino ministry in Racine and FaithWorks, to be used for community outreach ministries, including helping educate children and feeding the hungry of Racine.
This will be a big event. Everyone from each congregation will have an opportunity to contribute. A planning team, representing the five congregations, has been coordinating all the details. But they need your help. You can sell raffle tickets, solicit sponsors, prepare or serve food, help with games, direct traffic, distribute publicity, or help to plan and lead Sunday worship. Contact your church office or pastor to volunteer.
The festival, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 1015 Four Mile Road, runs from noon to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 15, and from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 16.
